OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team improved to 13-6-4 with a 3-1 road victory over the Buffalo State Bengals on Friday afternoon. Sophomore
Sara Cruise had a goal and an assist for the Lakers. The win clinches a bid for the Lakers in the upcoming NEWHL Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oswego scored the first at the 14:25 mark of the opening period on a 3-on-1, which proved to be the only goal of the stanza.
- The goal was scored by Cruise, her fifth goal of the season, on assists from Amber Thomas (14) and freshman Kyleigh Grugin (6).
- After the first, Oswego held the advantage in shots (9-4) and faceoffs (14-6).
- In the second period, Buffalo State incurred a penalty for too many women on the ice and freshman Megan Teachout scored the power-play goal on an assist from junior Philomena Teggart (10) with 8:34 left in on the clock.
- Four minutes later, sophomore defensewoman Molly Evans scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Cruise (6) to push the Laker lead out to 3-0 heading into the third period.
- Buffalo State concluded the scoring with 6:15 remaining in the third period on the power play.
- Senior Rachael Farmer stopped 19 shots on the night to improve to 12-6-4 on the season.
- A. Thomas led Oswego with 11 faceoff wins with Emma Morisette second with eight as the Lakers held a 31-21 advantage.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will travel home to take on Buffalo State for the second day in a row with puck drop set for 4 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
