Oswego Victorious Going Into Senior Day

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team defeated the Buffalo State Bengals by a score of 3-2 tonight. Freshman Alex DiCarlo scored his ninth goal and third game-winner of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Jody Sullivan put the Lakers on the board at the 12:40 mark of the first period.
  • Joseph Molinaro and Mac Lewis assisted the first-period goal for Oswego.
  • At the end of the first period, the Lakers found themselves more than doubling Buffalo State in shots on goal (13-6).
  • Oswego dominated a scoreless second period as they doubled Buffalo State in faceoffs (10-5) and nearly doubled them in shots on goal as well (17-9)
  • Through two periods, there had not been a single penalty called on either side.
  • Travis Broughman started the third off fast as he slipped one past the Buffalo State netminder on a wrap-around to put the Lakers up 2-0 just 1:12 into the period.
  • Broughman leads the Lakers in goals with 13.
  • DiCarlo continued his freshman campaign by netting one at the 8:55 mark of the third to put Oswego up 3-0.
  • The goal was assisted by Senior Anthony Passero who keeps the team lead in points (26).
  • The Bengals did not go home easy, as they scored at the 10:32 mark to put them within two goals.
  • Buffalo State scored a second-straight goal to put them down by only one with 5:53 remaining in the third period. The goal was on the powerplay.
  • Oswego pressure prevented the Bengals from pulling their goalie until only 17 seconds remained in the contest.
  • The Bengals were unable to capitalize as Oswego takes their 11th conference victory.
  • Steven Kozikoski had a save percentage of .929 with 26 saves tonight. This was his fifth victory in seven games this season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will host the Fredonia Blue Devils on Saturday, February 22 featuring a ceremony for the 13 seniors in the class of 2020. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center.
