HOW IT HAPPENED
Baldwin Wallace
- In the opener against Baldwin Wallace, Oswego used a key five-run sixth inning to put the game away.
- Enos had a bases-clearing double and then Olsson followed him with a two-run homer to cement the outcome.
- Olsson led the Lakers with three hits and newcomer Connor Stanton also homered for Oswego.
- Enos went 2-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Kieran Finnegan (1-0) earned the win in going five innings and striking out four.
- Junior Ronald Loomis pitched the final four innings, allowing three hits and mowing down three Yellowjackets.
- Baldwin Wallace entered the contest receiving votes (5) in the 2020 D3Baseball.com/NCWBA Preseason Top 25 Poll after a 2019 season that saw them go 27-17 and advance to the NCAA Regional Championship game.
La Roche
- Oswego jumped on top of La Roche in the first inning with a one-out single from Enos to start the run.
- After a passed ball, Olsson singled Enos in, followed by Kyle Lauria hitting a deep triple to center to plate the second run.
- A single from Casey Gruarin and a double from Ryan Weiss had the Lakers on top 4-0 right out of the gates.
- La Roche got one back in the top of the third on a homerun off of Laker starter Jake Terrill.
- The Lakers answered right back with a run in the bottom of the inning when senior Rocco Leone singled home classmate Nick Chilson.
- A pair of runs from La Roche in the top of the fourth and one in the sixth closed it back to 5-4 in favor of Oswego.
- In the seventh, Weiss connected on a 2-run double and Paul Tammaro plated pinch-runner Justin Troelstra for the final scoring.
- Sophomore Erik Dusseldorp struck out the side in the ninth to clinch the win.
- Tammaro led the Lakers in going 3-for-4 from the plate while Weiss, Chilson, Enos and Olsson all had a pair of hits.
- Terrill (1-0) earned the win, going five, giving up two earned runs and striking out three.
- Like Baldwin Wallace, La Roche came into the contest appearing in the national preseason poll with 17 votes.
- The Red Hawks are coming off a 30-15 season and an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship in 2019.
