OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team played a good defensive first half to keep it close, but the New Paltz Hawks pulled away in the second half to record a 68-42 victory. Oswego was led by junior
Raiven Encarnacion's 13 points on some acrobatic driving layups.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- New Paltz raced out to a 8-0 lead four minutes into the contest.
- The Lakers offense kicked into gear to play the Hawks close for the remainder of the quarter and be down 16-7 after one.
- In the second quarter, Oswego's defense stepped up with three blocks to allow them to make an 11-4 run to close to 20-18 with 2:45 left in the first half.
- Encarnacion (9) and senior Sydni Eure (8) led the offensive charge to keep the Lakers in it.
- The visitors would close the half on a 6-0 run to go up 26-18 at the break.
- Second chance opportunities were an issue for Oswego early in the third quarter as New Paltz pushed out to a 14-point lead at 4:15 on the clock.
- Again, the second part of the quarter was evenly played but Oswego was down 44-28 heading into the final stanza.
- New Paltz's 3-point shooting heated up, behind guard Olivia Badura, in the fourth quarter as they scored 24 points to pull away.
- Badura finished with a game-high 30 points.
- Turnovers were the big story in this one as New Paltz pressured the Lakers into 33 and scored 27 points from that aggressive play.
- Encarnacion finished with 13 points while Eure led the team with 15 rebounds.
- Senior Quincey Zimmerman had eight points while classmate Tatyana Fish ended with four.

Oswego will travel to Cortland on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
