MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Oswego State women's basketball team was defeated by SUNY Poly in their first of two games at the Mustang Classic in Morrisville. In a tight battle, the Wildcats pulled through in the fourth quarter, securing the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both the Widcats and Lakers went scoreless for nearly three minutes of the first quarter.
- From here the Lakers went on a 6-0 run.
- The wildcats went on a run of their own, outscoring the Lakers 8-3 from 4:53-1:58 in the first quarter.
- This brought the score to 9-8 in favor of Oswego.
- Going in to the second quarter the score was knotted 10-10.
- Coming out in the second quarter, Poly went on a 6-0 run giving them a six-point lead.
- After a made three-pointer by Chastin Giles to bring the Lakers within three points the Wildcats went on another hefty run.
- From 6:30- 5:05 Poly put up five straight points giving them the 23-13 lead.
- From here, Oswego and Poly exchanged points going into the third quarter, the Lakers found themselves down 29-18 until Elaina Johnson hit a much needed three-pointer to keep the Lakers in the game going into the second half.
- The green and gold came out in the second half wanting the ball, going on a 7-2 run out the gate. This run was led by Logan Castiglione scoring five of the seven.
- At the 6:15 mark of the third quarter the Lakers found themselves down 37-30, Oswego scored four straight to get back to a one score ball game.
- With four minutes remaining the Wildcats hit two back-to-back three-pointers when it looked like Oswego was going to grab the lead.
- At the end of the third, the Lakeshow went on a 5-1 run, getting them within four going into the final quarter.
- Down 53-45 in the fourth, Oswego fought back in fashion going on a 9-0 run, giving them their second lead of the game.
- The Wildcats closed out the game with a 5-0 run, giving them the 59-54 victory.
- The Lakers took advantage of their caused turnovers, scoring 15 points directly off of turnovers.
- The green and gold also showed their depth as they scored 13 points off the bench.
- Danielle Caivana led the Lakers with a 60% field goal percentage (6-10). Caivana also grabbed eight rebounds (6 def. 2 off.), recorded four assists and had two steals.
- Chastin Giles finished the contest with nine points, three rebounds and three assists.
- Also scoring for the green and gold was Shania Iglesias with seven points, eight rebounds and a steal.

The team will have their second game of the Mustang classic tomorrow at 3:00PM against the hosting team Morrisville.
