Women's Basketball Breeze by Express 73-23

AURORA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team breezed past the Express of Wells College this afternoon 73-23. The Lakers had eight players with six or more points in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After trading field goals in the beginning of the contest, the Lakers went on a 13-1 run to finish the first quarter.
  • Oswego continued their run in the second quarter, outscoring the Express 13-3, extending their lead to 22 (28-6).
  • The Lakers continued their offensive tear, going into the half leading 41-10.
  • Oswego took advantage of the Express turnovers scoring 39 total points off of turnovers with 19 of those coming in the second quarter.
  • The Lakers did a great job at stopping the fast break for the Express, allowing no points.
  • Oswego held the Express to six points in the third quarter to their 18.
  • Out of their 18 points, nine different players contributed in the quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Lakers didn't let up as they added another 14 to their total, only allowing seven.
  • Chastin Giles finished the contest with eight points, eight steals, five assists, and five rebounds.
  • Danielle Caivana dropped 14 going 5-12 from the field, including two from beyond the arc.
  • Also recording eight points and eight rebounds was Laila Elor.
  • Other contributing was; Logan Castiglione (8), Kennedi LaValley (7), Raiven Encarnacion (6), Peyton Daeffler (6), Caitie Lilly (6), Shania Iglesias (4), Logan Nyemchek (3), Zoe Evans (2) and Claire Skowronski (1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The women's basketball team returns to action at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30. The Lakers start their SUNYAC play against the Red Dragons of Cortland.
