OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team got 23 points from senior
Danielle Caivana, but were unable to overcome an early 22-point deficit in a 67-53 setback to Cortland in both teams' conference opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland was red hot out of the gate, taking an 18-6 lead after the opening quarter.
- The Red Dragons extended their lead out to 30-8 behind 5-for-12 from three-point range midway through the second quarter.
- Sophomore Caitie Lilly spurred a 10-2 run to end the first half behind three blocks, five points and four rebounds.
- It was a 46-24 lead for the visitors with just 2:08 left in the third quarter before an 11-0 Laker run, including a pair of three pointers by Caivana, cut it to 46-35.
- A 7-0 run by Cortland extended the lead back up to 53-35 early into the final frame.
- The Lakers kept fighting, outscoring the Red Dragons 18-14 down the stretch.
- Oswego guard Chastin Giles finished with a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds while also adding five assists.
- Junior Logan Castiglione added seven points and Lilly finished with eight points and five blocks.
