Four Wins for Oswego on Day 1 at Cortland

OSWEGO, N.Y. – With three wins on the men's side and one from the women's, after the opening day of action at the Snowflurries Invitational hosted by Cortland, the Oswego State men's swimming and diving team is in third place while the women sit in fourth after 12 completed events.

  • Scores:  Oswego Men – 206 Points (3 of 6); Oswego Women – 156 Points (4 of 6)
  • Location:  Harriet Holsten Pool, Cortland, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams got off to fast starts as the Oswego women's 200-yard medley relay team of seniors Allegra Neglia and Eva Potvin, junior Keaton Maring and freshman Alexia Lemus won the event in 1:55.38.
  • The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Ajani Isles, Zachary Brown, Raymond Paull, and Simon Daw finished in a tie for first place in 1:37.05.
  • Brown, Matt Rolph and Nate Einstein brought home three of the top four spots in the men's 200-yard IM for Oswego, with Brown (2:04.53) bringing home top honors.
  • Daw earned first in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.51 seconds while Matt Seyse was sixth in 23.21.
  • Isles took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke while Sebastian Lasher was seventh in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • Potvin took a third in the 200-yard IM in 2:23.92 while Lemus was third in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.72 seconds and Maring sixth at 26.81.
  • Freshman Fion Hon also earned a third-place finish for the Lakers, in the 200-yard butterfly (2:31.82).
  • Twyla Nastasia earned fifth in the 500-yard freestyle and Neglia was seventh in that event as well as the 100-yard backstroke.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return to action at Cortland for Day 2 action with a 10 a.m. start time.
