Women's Basketball Falls to Golden Eagles

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team fourth hard against the Golden Eagles of Brockport but fell just short. Shania Iglesias and Danielle Caivana combined for 32.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lakers found themselves down in the first quarter 6-2 at the 7:13 mark, Danielle Caivana knocked down a three-pointer to get the team back within one.
  • The first quarter went back and forth in points, at the horn the Golden Eagles lead 19-16.
  • The Lakers shot 60% from the field in the first quarter, including 75% from beyond the arc.
  • Raiven Encarnacion started the second quarter scoring from range.
  • Oswego went on an 8-2 run, giving them the 25-21 lead.
  • After a field goal from Brockport, bringing them within two points, neither team found a basket for nearly three minutes of play.
  • Tied at 25 with 2:44 remaining, the Lakers scored five straight, which included a deep 2-point field goal from Logan Nyemcheck with two seconds remaining, giving her team the momentum going into the second half.
  • At the end of the third quarter Brockport was trying to pull away, after a Caivana missed three, Iglesias at the buzzer brought her team within reach with a three going into the final quarter.
  • Caivana continued the momentum that Iglesias initiated by laying one in for the first bucket of the fourth.
  • From 6:14-1:43 the Golden Eagles went on an 11-2 run against the Lakers, pulling away with earning ten point lead. 58-48.
  • Iglesias splashed a three-pointer with 00:42 remaining to give her team a chance.
  • The Lakers fell short as the Golden Eagles poured it on in the final thirty seconds.
  • Chastin Giles finished the day with 12 points.
  • Iglesias rounded out a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her squad.
