GENESEO, N.Y. - Newcomer Alexandra Sperling won her match at sixth singles (6-3, 6-3) but the Lakers were felled by the Knights of Geneseo by a team score of 8-1 in the women's tennis team's return to action since Covid.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In doubles action, senior Bridget Bender and Miryam Makutonin were defeated by a score of 8-3 at #1 doubles.
• Jenny Lapp and Jenna Wilson suffered an 8-0 setback at second doubles and Debora Win and Sperling lost 8-1.
• Bender played an epic match at top singles, winning the opening set 6-4 before dropping the second, 2-6.  
• The third set went to 10-8 with Julianna Schulz of Geneseo narrowly edging out Bender.
• Win and Makutonin were vanquished by 1-6, 2-6 scores at second and fifth singles.
