NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Behind 35 runs, the Oswego State baseball team swept a road doubleheader from conference foe New Paltz on Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers won 24-12 and then 11-3 to improve to 3-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Oswego took the early lead when senior Kyle Lauria hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning to bring home Paul Tammaro.
- Lauria used an RBI-single to plate senior Ryan Enos in the top of the third and scored on a Ryan Weiss double to move the lead out to 3-0.
- New Paltz would battle back with five in the bottom of the inning, including a grand slam by Dean Stalzer.
- The Lakers would plate three in the fourth and a pair on an RBI-single by Frank Levanti in the fifth to go up 8-7.
- Stalzer's second homerun of the contest would bring the score back to 8-7.
- A seven-run sixth inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double by senior Myles Felton, broke the game wide open.
- Freshman Jacob Levine went deep on a two-run homer as part of a five-run seventh inning to push the team lead to 20-7.
- After New Paltz scored five in the eighth, Oswego concluded the scoring with four in the ninth on RBI-singles by Tammaro and Julian Drew.
- Tammaro, Levanti and Connor Stanton each had three hits in the contest, with Stanton scoring five runs.
- Felton had the team-lead with four runs batted in.
- The Lakers had seven batters reach base after being hit and drew eight walks in the contest.
- Jake Terrill (1-0) earned the win with four innings of work, striking out five Hawks.
- Thomas Pecchia and Tony Poveda combined for four relief innings with a combined five strikeouts and two earned runs allowed.
Game 2
- In the nightcap, Enos and Lauria helped Oswego to a 2-0 lead with RBI-singles in the opening frame.
- New Paltz would score a run in the bottom of the second and two in the third to take a momentary lead.
- With the bases loaded in the fourth, Jonathan Luppens reached on a fielder's choice to bring Lauria home to tie the game.
- In the fifth, the Lakers would break the game open on a Levine bases-loaded double, followed by a double from Stanton as part of a six-run outburst.
- Freshman Jai Sharma (1-0) threw six innings, allowing just the three earned runs and striking out eight for the win.

The Lakers will return to Oswego to play a doubleheader with Alfred State starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at the Laker Baseball Field.
