HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • The Lakers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning when shortstop Paul Tammaro singled, stole second and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.
  • Kyle Lauria, who had reached on a fielder's choice, advanced on a wild pitch, then stole third and scored on an errant throw from the catcher for the second run.
  • Oswego added runs in the second and third innings, with Tim Schinto drawing a bases loaded walk and freshman Jacob Levine coming in on a passed ball.
  • In the eighth, first baseman Ryan Weiss singled home senior Myles Felton who reached when hit by a pitch and moved into scoring position with a steal.
  • Van Fossen (1-0) was cruising through five having faced the minimum amount of batters, and then pitched his way out of a bases loaded situation in the sixth.
  • Freshman Devin Campbell and senior Jonathan Luppens allowed just the single earned run in three combined innings of relief.
Game 2
  • It was another hot start for Oswego behind singles from Tammaro, Brandon Frank and Ryan Enos to load the bases in the first inning.
  • Lauria delivered a single to right to plate a pair and moved to second as Enos beat a throw to third.
  • Designated Hitter Julian Drew would hit the sacrifice fly to bring Enos home.
  • Catcher Dylan Frawley kicked off another big inning in the fourth with a walk and steal of second.
  • After a Sam Allen single, Frawley would score when Tammaro reached by an error from the Pioneers' pitcher.
  • An Enos sac fly, Lauria RBI-single and Felton walk with the bases packed would extend the lead to 7-0.
  • Allen would reach by single, be replaced by Brian Brezosky who promptly stole second, and then come home on an RBI single from Enos for the final Laker tally.
  • Connor VanDreason, Jacob Sanders, Sean Clifford, and Evan Dempsey held Alfred State hitless in the final four innings to preserve the win.
