OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State volleyball team held off the Keuka Wolves in a five-set thriller to open their 2021 campaign behind 12 kills from Sydney Chiffriller and 10 from freshman Cara Simplicio.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lakers went up 2-0 by way of 19 kills on 43 attacks in the opening two sets.
• Down 25-24 in the third set, Keuka rallied for a 27-25 win to extend the match.
• It was a similar situation in the fourth set with the teams tied at 21-21 late before the Wolves pulled away to force the deciding set.
• The fifth set was close early until freshman Madison Gordon came off the bench and pushed Oswego's lead to three.
• From there, Oswego closed out the match, 15-11 for their first win of the season.
• Junior McKenna Corbin led Oswego with 16 assists while freshman Georgia Farry chipped in with seven kills.

The volleyball team heads over to Morrisville State on Friday for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. matches against Hood and Hartwick.
