HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening set was close with Oswego using a 7-2 run to go up 23-21 late.
- Fredonia finished on a 4-0 run to take the 1-0 lead.
- The Blue Devils raced out to a 10-4 lead in the second stanza before Oswego battled back to tie it at 15.
- It was back and forth between the teams until 23-23 when Fredonia scored the final two points.
- Undeterred, Oswego raced out to leads of 10-4 and 15-9 in the third.
- Fredonia closed to 18-15, but senior Dana Carey served Oswego back to a 22-15 advantage.
- Freshman Madison Gordon finished the set off with a kill from Carey.
- It was 8-8 in the fourth when Oswego made a 7-1 run to take control behind junior Sydney Chiffriller's serve.
- Fellow junior McKenna Corbin made a 6-0 run of her own to put Oswego up 23-12.
- In the fifth, Fredonia went up 6-0 right away before the Lakers closed to 6-4 and then 8-7 on a Cara Simplicio ace.
- A 7-3 run for the hosts would clinch the match.
