PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team got the perfect start with a three-goal opening period, but could not hold off No. 2 Plattsburgh in a 6-3 road defeat. It was the second time in the past week that the Lakers were neck-and-neck with the Cardinals heading into the final frame, tying last Friday's home contest at 2-2, before Plattsburgh pulled away late for victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oswego got on the scoreboard first when Chyne Kennedy scored 9:16 into the contest with assists from Mia Conboy and Taylor Hudon
- The Lakers added a second goal in the first period when Rachel Corbett scored on the power play with just over eight minutes left in the first period.
- Amanda Zenstein and senior Philomena Teggart had the assists on Corbett's goal.
- At 18:06 of the first period, Sophia Kyskostas added a third goal for Oswego with assists from Ariella Haas and Simone Bednarik.
- Plattsburgh outshot Oswego 12-to-6 in the opening frame, but Bryn White kept the hosts off the scoreboard and it appeared that the Cardinals' 59-game unbeaten streak in NEWHL play was in some jeopardy.
- With 7:08 left in the second period, the Cardinal broke through with an even-strength goal to make it 3-1.
- The hosts scored a goal with 44 seconds left in the second period to cut the lead back to 3-2 heading to the final period.
- Plattsburgh held a 13-to-2 edge in shots-on-goal in the second period.
- Just one minute into the third period, Plattsburgh tied the game on a Nicole Unsworth goal, her tenth of the season.
- Eight minutes later, the Cardinal took their first lead of the contest with a shorthanded goal and added an insurance goal with just under five minutes to play.
- Scoring ended with an empty-net tally with 58 second remaining from Plattsburgh's Annie Katonka, their leading goal scorer.
- Oswego finished 1-for-3 on the power play and held Plattsburgh to 0-for-2 on the woman advantage.
