CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team fought hard against the #1 team in the SUNYAC before a key third-quarter run helped the Red Dragons escape with a 55-49 win. The Lakers were led by freshman Shania Iglesias with 14 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Danielle Caivana hit the first three-pointer of the game, Cortland went on a 17-2 run, taking back the momentum.
- Iglesias hit a buzzer-beater three at the end of the first quarter to bring the team within nine points.
- At the end of the second quarter, Oswego went on an 8-0 run, closing the game to eight of the Red Dragons at 34-26.
- The Lakers continued their run in the third quarter, scoring five to Cortland's zero in the first minute and a half of play.
- With the Lakers within three, 6:04 and remaining in the third, Cortland went on a 9-0 run to give the Red Dragons a 12-point lead.
- The Green and Gold started the fourth fast as they scored four points in the first 1:15 of the quarter, bringing them within six (45-39).
- Cortland answered with a three-pointer to bring the lead back to nine.
- From there, the Lakers and Red Dragons battled back and forth offensively.
- Unfortunately, the damage had been done, the Red Dragons took the SUNYAC bout 55-49.
- Iglesias added six rebounds and two steals to her stat line.
- Caivana concluded with 12 points in 28 minutes and three assists.
- Also chipping in for the Lakers was Logan Castiglione (8), Raiven Encarnacion (6), Diamond Pickett (6) and Logan Nyemchek (3).

The Lakers will head west to Geneseo for a 5:30 p.m. SUNYAC contest on Tuesday.
