GENEVA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey team dropped a close non-conference matchup at William Smith 2-1. The Lakers started quickly in the 1st period, but were overmatched with two straight Heron goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After each team exchanged multiple shots to start the game, Oswego scored the game's first goal at 9:44 in the first period.
- Chyne Kennedy found the net for her fifth goal of the season, as she was assisted by Ashlyn McGrath.
- The Lakers tallied 19 shots in the first period compared to the Herons' 9.
- At 6:45 of the second period, an Oswego interference penalty provided William Smith with a 5-on-4 opportunity.
- The Herons quickly took advantage, tying the game just 22 seconds later.
- Both squads had power-play chances to round out the period, but neither could capitalize.
- Just 1:59 into the 3rd period, William Smith broke the stalemate and took a quick 2-1 lead.
- Oswego was provided with a power-play opportunity at 3:22, and the Herons at 5:37, but again neither were able to find the back of the net.
- After multiple minutes of scrappy play, the Lakers continued to control the shot category, but struggled to even the scoreboard.
- The Lakers emptied the net with 1:32 remaining and rattled off six shots but came up empty at the final buzzer.
- Oswego dominated in shots, shots-on-goal, and faceoffs, but abnormally could not capitalize on the power-play.
