HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- The Lakers got things started early when Alex DiCarlo scored just 30 seconds into the contest on assists from Broughman and Connor Sleeth.
- It was DiCarlo's tenth of the season while Broughman extends his points streak to six straight games.
- Surprisingly with the quick start, that was the only goal of the opening period.
Second Period
- Goals were aplenty in the second period as Tyler Flack circled into the high slot 7:34 into the frame and used a screen to beat the Fredonia goalie for his fourth goal of the season.
- Sophomore Rocco Andreacchi was awared the assist on Flack's goal, his fourth as a Laker.
- With seven minutes left in the second period, Broughman intercepted a Blue Devil turnover right in front of their net and fired it top shelf for the 3-0 lead.
- Less than a minute later, the Blue Devils cleared the puck out of their defensive zone and over the Oswego defense and used a two-on-one to beat Steven Kozikoski for their opening goal.
- At the end of the second period, the Lakers took a five-minute major for contact to the head of a Fredonia player and killed off a little over a minute to end the stanza.
Third Period
- It ended up being an 0-for-3 night for the Blue Devils as Oswego opened the third period with the rest of the penalty kill of the major penalty.
- Fredonia scored with 9:45 remaining when a Blue Devil won a race to a puck they had cleared out of their defensive zone, then dragged the puck past the Laker defenseman, and snapped a shot to the blocker side of Kozikoski.
- With 1:30 left, the Blue Devils pulled their goalie but the best scoring chance in the six-on-five was when Broughman and DiCarlo broke out on a two-on-one with about 30 seconds to play.
- A sliding block by the Fredonia defense swept DiCarlo's chance behind goal to give Fredonia one last fruitless rush into the Oswego defensive zone before the final horn sounded.
Key Stats
- Oswego is now on a six-game winning streak and remained tied with Geneseo atop the conference standings.
- The Lakers outshot Fredonia 38-26 and won the faceoff battle, 33-31.
- Kozikoski earns his eleventh win of the season with 24 saves on the evening.
