OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Field Women's soccer team fell to the Red Dragons at home this evening after a tightly contested game against Oneonta. Both defenses proved to be a force to be reckoned with, causing the other team to get minimal shots off.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half of play would be a defensive battle between the Lakers and Red Dragons.

The first shot of the contest would come 13 minutes into the first half, from Emily Applegate. This shot would be blocked by Oneonta's defense.

Luigiana Serrao would attempt a shot immediately following Applegate's blocked attempt, having her shot blocked as well.

Amber McDermott would then shoot off of the blocked shot and miss high.

Perri Anderson would record the only save of the first half around the 19-minute mark.

Oswego would only have four shots in the first half, none of which were able to land on goal.

The second half would start off slow for both teams.

Both teams would put the ball out of play several times in the first 15 minutes. There would be 21 throw-ins in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Oneonta would get the first shot off halfway into the second half, at the 77 minute mark.

Oswego would get their chance to score around the 82- minute mark, with a shot missed high by Amber McDermott.

Oneonta would end the scoring drought with just over five minutes left in play. Gianna Gritzmacher would be assisted by Tara Nicholson.

Both Oswego and Oneonta would finish with 5 shots on the day. Anderson would finish with only one save.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers head to Fredonia on October 19th for a conference matchup against the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils come in following a 2-0 loss against Plattsburgh.
