NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball team was swept by the Hawks this evening. The Lakers fought a hard battle through 3 sets, but fell short to the Hawks.

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (16-9, 4-4 SUNYAC), New Paltz 3 (18-2, 7-1 SUNYAC) (23-25, 21-25, 12-25)

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first set, both teams went back and forth for a tightly contested set. The Lakers had 9 errors in the first set.

Despite their errors, they were able to keep up with the Hawks, tying the match at 22.

Back-to-back errors gave New Paltz the match point, which ended the match by another Laker error.

Oswego had 14 kills in the first set, 5 errors, and 4 service errors. Cara Simplicio led oswego with 5 kills in the first set.

The Lakers would hang with the Hawks throughout the second set.

Despite falling to a 10-3 deficit, Oswego would come back and bring the deficit to 1.

The Hawks would find their groove again and pull away from the Lakers. Oswego refused to back down. Cutting a 18-12 deficit to 1 at 19-20.

New Paltz would prove to be too much for Oswego as they pulled away and took the second set by a score of 25-21.

Oswego once again had plenty of errors, which gave the advantage to the Hawks. Oswego had 7 errors in the second set, and only 9 kills.

Georgia Farry led the Lakers with 5 kills in the second set.

In set 3, Oswego ran out of fuel and the Hawks were able to easily take the set.

The Lakers were able to stay neck and neck with New Paltz until halfway through the final set.

The Hawks would go on a 14-3 run to claim their victory over Oswego.

During this run, Oswego would have 5 errors, and the Hawks would have 3 aces.

The Lakers had 8 kills and 6 errors in set 3.

Ferry led the Lakers on the night with 10 kills and 2 blocks. Emily Zeisler led with 3 aces, and McKenna Corbin recorded 25 assists on the night,
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego travels to Oneonta tomorrow, October 22nd for a matchup against the Red Dragons at 1pm. Oneonta has won 3 of their last 5 matches, and are looking to bounce back following a sweep by Cortland.
