ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball team defeated the Oneonta Red Dragons in 5 sets this afternoon.

Final Score: Oswego State 3 (17-9, 5-4 SUNYAC), Oneonta 2 (10-11, 2-7 SUNYAC) (25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-11)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego remained in control for the first set, eventually building their lead to 20-13.

Oneonta bounced back and reduced the deficit to just 3, forcing an Oswego timeout.

The Lakers would take the first set by a score of 25-21.

Oneonta would bounce back and take control in the second set, leading over halfway through the second.

Oneonta would end up winning the second set by a score of 25-19

Oswego climbed out to a 7-3 lead in the third. Oneonta battled back to tie the set at 11.

Oswego was able to retain their lead through the third, taking the set by a score of 25-18.

In the 4th set, both teams refused to back down from one another as the match went back and forth through the set.

Oneonta would pull away at the end to take the fourth set by a score of 25-22.

The Lakers would come out swinging in the 5th set, establishing a 10-6 lead.

Oneonta would have a last minute rally, but would fall short to the Lakers. Oswego took the 5th set by a score of 15-11.

Emma Fiorentine led the Lakers with 16 kills on the day. McKenna Corbin tallied 38 assists and 4 aces which were also team highs.

Oswego will head to Scranton, Pennsylvania for a matchup against Marywood University on Saturday, October 29th.
