Men's Soccer Ties Geneseo 2-2, Looks Towards Plattsburgh

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Soccer team tied with the Geneseo Knights at home this evening by a score of 2-2. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 2, Geneseo 2

Location:  Laker Turf Stadium, Oswego, N.Y.

Records: Oswego State (4-5-1, 1-2-2 SUNYAC), Geneseo (7-3-1, 1-1-2 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Oswego would start the first half strong, managing to put up 4 shots in the first ten minutes of play. One attempt, by HaJoon Lee, was a laser into the crossbar.

  • Geneseo would push the tempo offensively, getting three shots off in the next three minutes.

  • The Knights would manage to get 6 shots off in the final 20 minutes of the first half.

  • Oswego's Kieran Gilroy would score the first goal of the night (35:57), assisted by Ryan Young. 

  • Oswego refused to slow down, tallying nine total shots in the first half, coming from eight different Lakers.

  • The Knights couldn't get past the Lakers goalie Andre Bourjolly, who would finish the first half with six saves.

  • Geneseo would control the second half offensively.

  • The Knights would tie the game just under four minutes into the second half (48:59).

  • Oswego would strike back less than a minute later (49:44), this goal coming from HaJoon Lee. 

  • The Knights would strike again, tying the game at 2-2 just over five minutes later (55:04). 

  • Geneseo would have eight more shots in the second half, yet they wouldn't score another goal. 

  • The Lakers defense had five blocked shots in the second half. 

  • Geneseo would out shoot the Lakers by a 11-1 margin.

  • Andre Bourjolly would finish with six saves on the night. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Oswego State will look to defend their turf against the Plattsburgh Cardinals on Saturday, October 8th at 1pm. The Cardinals are looking to end a two game losing streak.
