GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team faced off against the Geneseo Knights this afternoon. The matchup was fairly even, as we saw the game go the distance using all five sets. The Lakers would fall short in the final set.

Final Score: Oswego State 2 (15-8, 4-3 SUNYAC), Geneseo 3 (7-9, 2-3 SUNYAC) (23-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22, 9-15)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers would fall in the first set by a score of 23-25 to the Knights.

Oswego would start out the set with three straight attacking errors, falling 3-0 in the set early.

The Lakers would bounce back, eventually getting a 14-12 lead.

The Knights would rally back, eventually winning the first set.

Emma Fiorentine would lead the Lakers with kills in the first set with four, and ten attacks. Mckenna Corbin would have nine assists in the first.

Geneseo would yet again get the best of the Lakers in the second set, winning by a score of 25-18.

The third set is where the Lakers would turn things around and get the momentum rolling their way.

The Lakers would go back and forth with the Knights for most of the set, eventually pulling away and winning the set by a score of 25-20.

Oswego would yet again, keep things rolling their way into the fourth.

The Lakers and Knights would go back and forth again in an even set, with the Lakers eventually winning the set 25-22.

The Lakers would fall short of the Knights in the final set, by a score of 15-9.

The Knights took advantage of the Lakers misfortunes in the final set, with Oswego having three attacking errors.

Leading the Lakers this afternoon in kills was Cara Simplicio with 15, Emma Fiorentine would finish the day with 39 total attacks, and 11 kills. McKenna Corbin would finish with 42 assists, Emily Zeisler would have four aces on the day.

The Lakers will be back at Max Ziel Gymnasium on October 18th to face off against SUNY Poly at 6pm.
