Lakers Sweep Mustangs In NEWHL Conference Weekend

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Women's Hockey team hosted the Morrisville Mustangs this afternoon. The Lakers were able to stay hot offensively and beat the Mustangs in back-to-back contests.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 4 (3-3-0, 3-1 NEWHL), Morrisville 1 (0-5-1, 0-4 NEWHL)

Location: Deborah F. Stanley Arena & Convocation Hall, Oswego, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Oswego would put up 14 shots on goal in the first, and Lexi Levy would record 9 saves in the period.

  • After the power play expired shortly into the second period, Amanda Zenstein would score her first goal of the season, giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

  • The Mustangs would respond, scoring their only goal of the night off a power play late in the second period.

  • The Lakers would add 23 shots on goal in the second period, and Levy would add 10 more saves.

  • Oswego would breeze past the Mustangs in the final period of play.

  • Ashlyn McGrath would score shortly into the third on a delayed penalty in favor of Oswego. McGrath would be assisted by Lauren Schell

  • With 4:02 remaining in the contest, Taylor Hudon would record her first goal of the season, getting an assist from Mack Hull and Kensie Malone

  • The Mustangs would pull their goalie to try and get back into the game, but Ashlyn McGrath had other plans. McGrath would score her second goal of the day, and her 6th goal in the last 4 games on the open net. McGrath would be assisted by Ariella Haas and Amanda Zenstein.

  • Oswego would hold on and secure the 4-1 victory over the Mustangs yet again. Lexi Levy would finish with 25 saves on the afternoon.

WHAT'S NEXT
