ROCHESTER, NY. – The Oswego State Men's Basketball team traveled to Rochester this evening to take on the Golden Flyers at Nazareth. The Lakers fell short, missing a game-tying attempt at the final buzzer. The Lakers suffered their first loss of the season against Nazareth.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers started off getting the first basket of the night, then Nazareth would go on a 8-0 run to lead 8-2.

Oswego would rally back and tie the score, going basket for basket with the Golden Flyers.

A little over halfway through the half, Nazareth would pull away from the Lakers, building a 14 point lead over the Lakers going into the half.

Oswego had 7 turnovers in the first half of play, allowing the Flyers to score 11 points off of them. The Lakers were out-rebounded in the first half, by a 17-14 margin.

Despite all this, Oswego had a solid first half performance, shooting 41.4% from the field. The Lakers converted on 12 of their 29 attempts. They allowed the Flyers to convert on 58.1% of their field goal attempts, while giving up 66.7% of their 3pt attempts.

A key stat to notice from the first half, the Flyers had 20 points from their bench.

Devin Green led the Lakers in points at the half with 13 points, Jamal Achille added 10 points as well.

Oswego would come out of the half shooting lights out, erasing their 14 point deficit in just 7 minutes of play. The Lakers would continue their streak, establishing a 8 point lead over the Flyers with just over 9 minutes remaining.

Nazareth would climb back, after the Lakers would miss 10 of their last 12 shots in the contest.

Jamal Achille would finish leading the Lakers in points, scoring 24 points, shooting 79% from the field; Devin Green added 20 points for the Lakers. Jeremiah Sparks led the Lakers on the glass with nine rebounds, Green and Achille added seven rebounds each as well.
