OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Basketball team continued their unbeaten streak to start the season, defeating the Alfred Saxons 65-57. Karleigh Leo led both teams in scoring with 19 points as the Lakers pulled away in the fourth quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego led after the first quarter by a score of 15-14. Karleigh Leo had two big three-pointers during the quarter that turned the tide in Oswego's favor.

The Lakers shot 40% from the field in the first quarter, and out-rebounded Alfred 15-6.

The second quarter progressed almost exactly like the first, with the Lakers outscoring Alfred 15-14, and Karleigh Leo hitting two three-pointers. Oswego led the quarter from start to finish.

Oswego shot 35.3% from the field in the second quarter. Karleigh Leo's four threes in the first 20 minutes made her the Laker scoring leader at the half with 12 points.

Alfred evened up the score in the third quarter at 43-43.

Logan Castiglione scored the first four points of the fourth quarter for the Lakers. Shania Iglesias hit a three-pointer to extend the Oswego lead to 50-46 with 7:20 left in the fourth.

Leo again hit another three to equal Alfred's three point shooting in the fourth and keep the lead at four with 6:11 left.

Shania Iglesias hit two unanswered layups to extend a lead that the Lakers would not look back from.

Four Oswego players ended the 65-57 win in double figures. Karleigh Leo's timely three-point shooting helped her lead the Lakers in scoring with 19 points.

Diamond Pickett had 12 points, Shania Iglesias' big fourth quarter gave her 11 points at the final buzzer, and Elaina Johnson also had 12.

Oswego shot 40.7% from the field and 30% from three-point range. Leo led the Lakers in assists with five. The Lakers also out-rebounded Alfred 56-35, with Diamond Pickett grabbing nine.

Oswego dominated in the paint with 26 points.
WHAT'S NEXT
The women will battle the Fredonia Blue Devils and look to continue their unbeaten record in Oswego on November 29. This will be the Lakers' first conference matchup of the season.
