Wrestling Earns Four Podium Winners At RIT Invite

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Lakers traveled to RIT this morning for the RIT Invitational tournament. There were 16 participating teams in the tournament. The Lakers had four wrestlers place on the podium this afternoon. 

 

THE BASICS

  • Final Scores:  Oswego 73, 10th place out of 16

  • Location:  Gordon Field House, Rochester, N.Y.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 
  • Michael Santore earned three points for Oswego with a fall in his first match in the 133 pound division. Santore earned a trip to the quarter-finals with a 8-2 decision win, which earned another point for the Lakers. Santore finished with 6.5 points.

  • In the 141 pound division, William Piatti won his first match by fall, giving Oswego three points. Piatti finished with eight team points. 

  • In the 149 weight class, Tyler Rossini finished in fifth place, earning 17 team points. 

  • Representing the Lakers in the 157 pound division was Logan McGloine. McGloine was able to win his first match by decision, earning one point for the team. McGloine won his next match by a 6-0 decision, earning another point for the Lakers. Logan finished the tournament with a sixth place finish in the 157 pound division, earning eight team points. 

  • Steven Felice represented Oswego in the 165 pound division. Felice was able to earn three points in the first round, winning by fall. Felice finished with 5.5 points for Oswego. 

  • In the 174 pound division, Brian Bielec earned three points in the first round, winning by fall. Bielec was able to earn two more points in his next match, winning with a 12-2 major decision. Brian finished the tournament with a sixth place finish, scoring 14 points for the Lakers.

  • Bryce Smith finished in fifth place in the 184 pound division, earning eleven points for Oswego. 

  • Kevin Arriaza was able to win by fall in his first match in the 285 pound division, earning three points for the Lakers. 

 

WHAT'S NEXT

 

The Lakers will travel to Lycoming College in Pennsylvania on Saturday, December 10th for the Lycoming Tri/Quad Match. The match is set to begin at noon on Saturday.
