NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The New Paltz Hawks got a late score to rally past the No. 14 Oswego State men's basketball team by a 64-63 margin, snapping the Lakers' 17-game win streak. Oswego falls to 20-2 on the season and suffers their first conference loss of the season (14-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams were close throughout the first half until a three by freshman Ahkee Anderson put the Lakers up 30-23 with five minutes to go before the break.
- New Paltz ended the half on a 14-5 run to take a 37-35 lead.
- Oswego held a four-point lead after a Jeremiah Sparks dunk with four minutes remaining in the contest and the score 60-56.
- A 6-0 run by New Paltz put the Hawks up 62-60 with two minutes to go.
- Junior Devin Green hit a free throw and Sparks made a layup to put the Lakers back on top.
- With 15 seconds left, New Paltz hit the go-ahead layup and then forced a steal to close it out.
- Sparks led Oswego with 15 points, Anderson added 12 and senior Jamal Achille had 10.
- The Hawks won the rebounding battle by a 34-30 margin with senior Brendan Mulson leading Oswego with nine.
- Oswego still holds a three-game cushion in the SUNYAC standings, with second-place Oneonta sitting at 11-4 in conference.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will look to rebound with a 4 p.m. game at Oneonta on Saturday. A win in any of the final three SUNYAC contests for Oswego will give them the top seed in the upcoming Championship Tournament.
