Men Up to Third, Women Fifth at SUNYAC's

BUFFALO, N.Y.
– The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team got top-5 finishes from junior Zachary Brown, freshman Simon Daw, the 200-yard freestyle relay team and the 400-yard medley relay team to move up from fifth to third during the second day of competition at the 2022 SUNYAC Championships.  The Oswego women nabbed a pair of top-5's to move up to fifth, including a third in the 400-yard medley relay.

  • Scores Through Day 2:  Oswego Men's S&D – 146 Points (3 of 9); Oswego Women's S&D – 119 Points (5 of 9)
  • Location:  Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center, Erie Community College (ECC), Buffalo, N.Y.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Men's Swimming & Diving
  • Senior Matt Rolph, junior Matthew Seyse, Brown and Daw teamed up to take second in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:25.69 for 34 team points.
  • Oswego's 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Ajani Isles, Brown, Daw and Rolph added another 34 with a runner-up finish in a time of 3:30.32.
  • Daw returned later in evening action to take third in the 50-yard freestyle (21.23) with Seyse finishing tenth in 22.08 seconds for 23 combined team points for the duo.
  • Brown added a fourth in the 200-yard IM and a time of 1:55.58 and 15 team points, with Rolph and fellow senior Nate Einstein also adding five points.
  • In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Erick Zizic finished thirteenth in 4:58.29 for four team points.
Women's Swimming and Diving
  • The 400-yard medley relay team of seniors Allegra Neglia, Eva Potvin, Grace Parente and Keaton Maring took third in 4:07.77.
  • Oswego's other top-5 came in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of freshman Alexia Lemus, junior Twyla Nastasia, Neglia and Maring finished in fifth in 1:41.49.
  • Parente added seven points in the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.25) and Nastasia scored three in 5:28.61.
  • In the 50-yard freestyle, Maring also scored seven points with her time of 25.50 and Lemus added three in 25.80.
  • Potvin brought in five points in the 200-yard IM with her time of 2:19.52.
  • On the women's 1-meter diving board, seniors Laura Bornheimer (285.00) and Jess Azoulay (227.25) combined for eight team points.
All-Conference
The top three finishers in each event earn All-SUNYAC honors which includes Daw (50-yard free, both relays), Brown (both relays), Rolph (both relays), Seyse (200-free relay), Isles (400-yard medley relay), Neglia (400-yard medley relay), Potvin (400-yard medley relay), Parente (400-yard medley relay), and Maring (400-yard medley relay).
