Men's Ice Hockey Falls to #2 Ranked Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team found themselves down 3-0 after the first period, they fought back adding two goals after Geneseo's fourth tally, but were unable to equalize the contest against the #2 Nationally ranked Knights of Geneseo.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Period

  • The Lakers found themselves down 3-0 after the first period. 
  • The Knights scored all three goals in the last 6:07 of the period, including their final goal of the period with just 3.2 seconds remaining. 

Second Period

  • The period went scoreless until the 13:38 mark where Geneseo extended their lead to 4-0. 
  • The Lakers fought back and just 40 seconds later added their first tally of the contest. 
  • Rocco Andreacchi scored the Lakers first, assisted by Tyler Flack and Jackson Arcan

Third Period

  • Tommy Cahill added a second Lakers goal 2:41 into the final period, which turned out to be their last. 
  • This is Cahill's third goal in two games for the Green and Gold, the goal was unassisted. 

Key Stats

  • Geneseo snaps Oswego State's seven-game winning streak. 
  • The faceoff battle went to Geneseo 44-32.
  • Kozikoski finished the contest with 34 saves. 
  • Cahill continues his hot hand on the offensive, scoring his third goal in two games. 
  • Oswego held the Knights to 0-4 on the powerplay, Geneseo before tonight was ranked 9th in the nation in powerplay percentage. 
  • Oswego, 12th in the nation in powerplay percentage also went 0-4 on the man-advantage.
