CANTON, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey team defeated Canton in a NEWHL conference matchup on Saturday. The Lakers boasted 12 different players with points, and totaled 5 different goal-scorers in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After putting 7 shots on goal to start the game, the Lakers got on the board at the 8:29 mark in the first period.
- Sophomore's Morgan Shines and Kyleigh Grugin set up Freshman Lizzie Burke to get the scoring started for Oswego.
- With 2:14 left in the first period, Canton received a powerplay opportunity due to a Laker tripping penalty.
- The Lakers combatted the Roos' opportunity and scored a short-handed goal with 28 seconds remaining in the period.
- Captain Philomena Teggart and Junior Ariella Haas assisted Freshman Simone Bednarik on the score.
- Just 2:14 into the second period, Shines added a goal of her own as she was assisted by Grugin and Junior Avery Webster.
- Oswego continued to pour it on, scoring 46 seconds later on a goal by Senior Taylor Hudon. Hudon was assisted by Freshman Ashlyn McGrath and Sophomore Mia Conboy.
- The Lakers added 14 shots on goal in the second period and continued to hold Canton scoreless.
- After back-and-forth play in the third frame, Sophomore Rachel Corbett and Junior Amanda Zenstein set up McGrath for Oswego's fifth and final goal of the night.
- Oswego out-shot Canton 33-14 while Sophomore Goalkeeper Joanna Hiebert recorded the shutout on 14 saves.
