Joanna Hiebert, the Oswego State women's ice hockey defeated SUNY Canton on Sunday by a 4-0 score. The Lakers jump into a tie for second in the conference standings with Cortland with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Emily Gustafson netted the game-winner just 5:50 into the contest with her first goal of the season.
- With 3:12 left in the opening period, freshman Mack Hull made it 2-0 when she scored her fifth goal of the season.
- Burke and sophomore Morgan Shines had the assists on Hull's goal.
- The Lakers added a power-play goal in the second period when sophomore Sophia Kyrkostas scored with three minutes to go in the frame.
- Senior Chyne Kennedy and freshman Simone Bednarik were awarded assists on the power-play goal.
- Burke added the insurance goal midway through the third period with assists from Shines and sophomore Kyleigh Grugin.
- Oswego outshot the 'Roos 45-18 and won 35 faceoffs compared to 16 for SUNY Canton.
- Hiebert picks up her eighth win of the season and fourth shutout which ties for fifth-best nationally.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers take on Buffalo State at 7 p.m. in a road contest on Tuesday. Through the support of Oswego Health, admission into Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey regular season home games is free of charge for the 2021-22 season.
