BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey team fired a season-high 62 shots-on-goal leading to a 5-0 NEWHL conference victory on Tuesday night vs Buffalo State. Freshman Ashlyn McGrath led the way for the Lakers, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following the puck drop, Oswego put up eleven shots before Buffalo State could even muster one, foreshadowing the story for the rest of the contest.
- 9:43 into the game, the Lakers received their first power-play opportunity of the night, and took advantage.
- Senior Chyne Kennedy passed to Junior Ariella Haas who then set up Sophomore Sophia Kyrkostas with a cross-ice pass to net the first goal of the night for Oswego
- Oswego put eighteen shots on goal in the first period compared to the Bengals one.
- After a back-and-forth start to the second frame, Oswego put up two goals within 34 seconds of each other.
- The first Laker goal in the sequence was scored at 6:30 by Sophomore Rachel Corbett on a backhander in front of the net. McGrath and Freshman Mack Hull were both credited with assists.
- At 7:04 McGrath found a goal of her own, cashing in a rebound to extend Oswego's lead to 3. Senior Avery Webster tallied an assist on the play.
- Nearing the end of the second period, McGrath put up her second assist of the contest, feeding Sophomore Mia Conboy to make it a 4-0 game. Hull added her second assist for the game on the play as well.
- McGrath continued her stellar game into the third stanza, adding her second goal of the contest at the 7:30 mark. Freshman Lizzie Burke and Sophomore Kamryn Barnes added assists to put the Lakers up 5-0.
- The Lakers outshot Bengals 76-13 in the contest, putting 62 shots on goal. Sophomore Bryn White only faced 9 shots on goal, but saved them all en route to her second shutout of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego State will return home on Senior Night to face the Canton Kangaroos for a 7:00 PM puck drop this Friday. Through the support of Oswego Health, admission into Oswego State Women's Ice Hockey regular season home games is free of charge for the 2021-22 season.
