OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State wrestling team battled back from an early 15-0 deficit to close the score to 18-16, but the Red Dragons pulled away for the 24-16 victory. Prior to the match, the Lakers honored the senior class of 2021 (Caleb Beach,
Josh Bressette,
Christian Gramuglia) and the 2022 class of
Nicolai Celestain,
Logan McGloine,
CJ Walz and
Isaac Mathews.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oneonta raced out to a 15-0 behind a pair of falls and a decision in the lower weight classes.
- McGloine got Oswego on the board with a fall to cut the lead back to 15-6 at 141.
- Sophomore Thomas Coll followed up McGloine with a win by technical fall (3:12) to make it 15-9.
- Mathews and Tyler Brazinski were tied at 3-3 heading into the third period with the Red Dragon pulling out the 6-3 decision for the 18-9 team advantage.
- Brazinski came into the match showing up in the D3Wrestle.com national ranking in the Honorable Mention group.
- Junior Charlie Grygas moved to 22-1 on the season with a major decision (13-3) win at 174 for four team points.
- Bryce Smith came up big at 184 with a decision (7-3) to make it 18-16 heading into the two final matchups.
- At 197, Anthony Cascen got up with a 3-0 lead, but a late escape and takedown made it 3-3 heading into the final frame and Oneonta got the decision to make it 21-16.
- In the 285-pound weight class, Oneonta came away with the 5-0 decision over Jaden Hall.
- In exhibition action, Steven Felice earned a win by fall to open the match and then suffered a loss by fall.
- Colby Harblin lost a 2-0 decision in the final exhibition match.
