Enos Continues Early Success With Six RBI's In Win

DAVENPORT, FL  – The Oswego State Baseball team continued their early season success this afternoon against Beloit College, improving to 9-2. Ryan Enos went 4-5 with SIX RBI's including a double and two home runs. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 9 , Beloit College 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Enos kept at his early success, hitting a solo homerun with one out in the first inning. 
  • After Kyle Lauria walked, Lukas Olsson followed suit. 
  • Lauria stole second and third base, making it first and third one out. 
  • Lauria scored on an error by the pitcher after a failed pickoff attempt. 
  • Beloit tied the contest at two with a single and double to lead off the bottom of the first frame. 
  • Jacob Levine singled up the middle to get on base as the leadoff hitter in the second inning.
  • Levine advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt by the Beloit catcher.  
  • Paul Tammaro walked and Levine stole third on the walk. 
  • Tammaro then put himself in scoring position with a stolen base with Levine still on third. 
  • Enos in his second at bat kept the hot bat in hand as he doubled to right center field, earning his second and third RBI's as Tammaro and Levine scored. 
  • The score remained 4-2 in the Lakers favor until the top of the fourth inning when Levine again started a Laker rally, doubling down the left field line. 
  • Aidan Gallagher moved Levine to third on a sacrifice fly to center field. 
  • Junior Colin Williams singled to left field, scoring Levine. 
  • Williams successfully stole second base, then shortly after Tammaro singled by a bunt to the pitcher, advancing Williams to third base. 
  • Tammaro then stole second base, putting himself in scoring position as he did in the second inning. 
  • Enos found himself in another great offensive position with runners on second and third, he did the job at hand, singling to left field, bringing in Williams and Tammaro for his fourth and fifth RBI's of the contest.
  • This extended the Lakers' lead to five runs (7-2). 
  • Through the fifth inning, the score remained 7-2 in the Lakers' favor. 
  • After two hard hit balls to start off the top of the sixth inning, they were unfortunately right to the Beloit defense. 
  • With two outs Tammaro was up to bat with the bases cleared.
  • Tammaro hit his fourth homerun, a solo shot, doubling his 2021 season total. 
  • Beloit scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to cut the lead to five runs. 
  • Beloit scored one more run, which proved to be their final run in the bottom of the seventh. 
  • Enos was not done as he earned his sixth RBI of the contest on his second solo home run of the game. 
  • This is Enos' second multiple home run game of the season as he hit three against Keystone College on March 5. 
  • Thomas Pecchia earned the win on the mound with five innings pitched, six strikeouts and no walks in eighteen batters faced. 
  • The Lakers' pitching staff combined for 16 strikeouts including the six from Pecchia, two from Ben Geiger in one inning pitched, three from Connor Van Dreason in two innings pitched and three from Tony Poveda in one inning picthed striking out the side in the ninth inning.

Oswego State will continue take on the Huskies of Southen Maine tomorrow at 2:30p.m. in Auburndale Florida.
