MLAX Wins Four Straight, Defeating The Pioneers

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Lacrosse team dominated against the Utica Pioneers. Senior Weston Gray and sophomore Ryan Eccles each scored 5 goals. The Lakers scored a barrage of goals to win the game 18-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Q1

  • The Lakers opened up the game with a goal from Gray with 11:52 remaining.
  • Oswego's Eccles scored an impressive solo goal to go up two with 10:05 on the clock. 
  • Corey O'Connor set up Gray for his second goal to go up three.
  • Gray scored his third goal a minute later with 6:33 left.
  •  Utica scored off of an Oswego turnover.
  • With a 1:58 left, Gavon Elston scored for Oswego. 

Q2

  • The Lakers scored off the stick of  Eccles with 12:36 left.
  • Gray added to his goal tally, Oswego went up 7-1 with 8:13 on the clock.
  • Max Brodman assisted Elston for his second goal, the Lakers went up 8-1.
  • With 2:37 remaining, Gray scored again off of another O'Connor assist. 
  • Eccles scored with a powerful shot with just a minute to spare, the Lakers led 10-1.

  • The Lakers opened up the quarter with four unanswered goals.
  • Utica answered with two goals of their own, Oswego led 14-3.

  •  Tyler Stevenson secured his first goal of the season to put Oswego up 16-3.
  • With 27 seconds left Devon Gerhardt scored his first goal of the game.

  • Utica opened up the scoring for the quarter with 10:30 on the clock, the Lakers held a 17-4 lead. 
  • Utica extended their scoring run, scoring two goals in just over a minute.
  • Oswego put an end to Utica's three goal run with a shot from Garret Patrelli, giving Liam Sexton his fourth assist.
  • Utica scored two goals in the last four minutes of the game.
 

Final Stats 

The Lakers had 31 shots on goal compared to Utica's 18. 

Both O'Connor and Sexton ended the game with four assists.

The Lakers team had 15 assists in total, to Utica's 5.
