Lakers Sweep Cardinals, Continue Offensive Dominance

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team completed a series sweep against Plattsburgh State this afternoon. After collecting two wins against Plattsburgh yesterday, the Lakers continued their dominance. Oswego got 18 hits in this one and scored 17 runs. After today's contest, Ryan Enos is tied for first in the country in batting average (.548). The Lakers pitching staff held the #1 ranked batter in the country to only three hits in 11 at bats in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers opened up the scoring in the second inning after a Plattsburgh fielding error helped  Ryan Weiss in for the score.
  • With runners on first and second base, Greg Carullo hit a single to left field to bring in Julian Drew, extending the Laker lead to 2-0. 
  • The Lakers scored their final run of the inning on a Plattsburgh error. 
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Plattsburgh got a run off of a single driven to third base
  • Oswego continued their dominant form in the third inning with CJ McCarthy hitting a solo homer to push the Lakers lead to 4-1.
  • In the same inning, Paul Tammaro hit a single down the left side to bring in Weiss for another run, Lakers ended the second inning up 5-1.
  • In the fourth inning, Oswego scored their lone run after a wild pitch bringing in Kyle Lauria for the Green and Gold's sixth run.
  • Plattsburgh scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring the deficit to four runs.
  • Oswego scored two more runs in the sixth inning after Weiss doubled to center field, helping both McCarthy and Lukas Olsson cross home plate, the Lakers lead 8-2. 
  • Plattsburgh tried their best efforts to come back, scoring three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh inning, bringing them within three (8-5).
  • The Lakers scored a barrage of runs in the eighth inning to extend their lead to 12 runs. 
  • Oswego scored a total of nine runs in the inning.
  • The Lakers completed the series sweep against Plattsburgh, winning 17-5.
