ITHACA, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team collected 13 hits in an 11-0 shutout victory over non-conference opponent Ithaca College on Tuesday evening. The game ended after seven innings due to darkness. Senior Thomas Pecchia and Sophomore Jai Sharma combined to throw the shutout against the Bombers, allowing just two hits in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After singles by Paul Tammaro and Kyle Lauria in the opening frame, Lukas Olsson tallied a base-hit of his own, plating Tammaro to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.

Olsson proceeded to take second base on a steal, and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Tishawn Featherstone to put the Lakers up 2-0.

Blake Van Dreason, Colin Williams, and Tammaro opened the second inning by reaching base, allowing Ryan Enos to tally an RBI sac fly and increase Oswego's lead, 3-0.

Lauria and Olsson added two more RBI's in the inning to give the Lakers a commanding 5-0 lead after two innings.

After a Weiss double to start the third inning, Julian Drew tallied his first RBI of the game to make it 6-0.

The fourth inning went by quietly for both teams, but Oswego made up for it by putting up five runs in the fifth inning, increasing their lead to 11-0.

Featherstone, Drew, Tammaro, and Lauria each recorded an RBI in the inning, with the fifth run scored by a wild pitch.

The aggressive Oswego offense would relax for the rest of the game, resulting in a 11-0 victory after the game was called in the seventh due to darkness.

Pecchia started the game and went five scoreless innings, striking out two and only allowing two hits.

Sharma came in to close out the remaining two innings, striking out three and retiring every batter he faced.

Senior experience showed on offense as Tammaro, Lauria, Olsson, Drew, and Weiss finished the game a combined 11-for-16 with seven RBI's and seven runs.
