Offensive Showdown Earns Lakers Sixth Straight

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's lacrosse team came away with the win against Potsdam in a high scoring affair. Sophomore Liam Sexton and Freshman Corey O'Connor each poured in four goals in this contest. The offensive showcase between both teams ended with a Laker victory, 22-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Q1

  • Within a minute Oswego's Corey O'Connor scored an unassisted goal after Logan Prescott won the faceoff.
  • Potsdam responded with a goal to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:36 on the clock. 
  • Potsdam scored two goals within three minutes to take a 3-1 lead.
  • With 3:42 on the clock Ryan Eccles set up Ryan Dumont for a goal, Lakers trialed 3-2. 
  • Gavin Elston picked up his 19th goal of the season to tie the game up  shortly after.
  • After tying the game up, Oswego went on an unanswered six goal scoring run to close the quarter up 9-3. 

Q2

  • O'Connor scored the opening goal of the quarter with 14:32 left.
  • A minute later, Oswego's Max Brodman scored his fifth goal of the season to push the Lakers lead to 11-3.
  • With 10:37 on the clock, Dumont got set up by Gavin Elston to give the Lakers their 12th goal of the game.
  • Potsdam ended their scoreless run to make the score 12-4. 
  • Elston scored a solo goal with 7:17 remaining on the clock.
  • Potsdam scored two goals in about two minutes to decrease their deficit to seven goals.
  • Garret Patrelli assisted Liam Sexton with 3:11 on the clock, Lakers lead 14-6.
  • Potsdam immediately answered with a goal to bring the deficit back to seven. 
  • The Lakers scored three consecutive goals to close out the half, Lakers lead 17-7.
