OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team defeated the St. John Fisher Cardinals this afternoon, tying the season series at 1-1 for the non-conference opponents. Lukas Olsson continued his tear on offense and defense, collecting another homerun and throwing out a runner on second attempting to steal. Olsson also collected a slick putout after a laser from Kyle Lauria in center field to catch a runner at home for the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first inning went scoreless as the Lakers went one, two, three and the Cardinals allowed one baserunner by a hit by pitch.

Jacob Levine opened the scoring for the Green and Gold with a three-run homerun, plating Julian Drew and Ryan Weiss.

Ryan Enos then recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly, plating TiShawn Featherstone after Featherstone was hit by a pitch and then stole second base, giving the Lakers a 4-0 lead.

In the Bottom of the third inning the score still sat at 4-0 Lakers until Levine added his fourth RBI of the contest in just the first three innings.

Olsson scored on the Levine single after a leadoff double to center field, nearly another homerun.

In the sixth inning the Cardinals added two runs, cutting the Laker lead to three runs (5-2).

The Cardinals were not done as in the seventh inning they added four more runs on homeruns, taking the 6-5 lead over the Lakers.

Oswego did not take light to the Cardinals taking the lead as in the same inning the Lakers took back the lead after an Olsson homerun. This came after Lauria earned a leadoff single.

Going into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lakers still held the one-run lead.

With runners on first and second Ryan Enos doubled and scored Tim Shinto from second base.

Lauria then flew out to right field, earning the SAC fly, scoring Tammaro.

Olsson added another RBI, making it 15 in the last four games played.

Oswego State will go on the road to take on the Blue Devils of Fredonia for their final regular season series of the 2022 campaign. The weekend series will begin on May 6th at 3:00pm.
