OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Volleyball Team completed a perfect 4-0 weekend at their home tournament with a five-set victory over SUNY Canton in the morning match and a 3-1 defeat of St. Lawrence in the afternoon. The Lakers improve their record to 8-6 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match 1 – SUNY Canton (25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 25-7, 15-7)
- In the first set, Oswego built up a 17-9 lead with four kills from sophomore Cara Simplicio and cruised to a 25-18 win.
- The 'Roos flipped the script in the second set, building a 17-7 lead and capitalizing by outhitting Oswego 10-9 in kills to take it 25-19.
- Junior Georgia Farry and Simplicio put up four straight kills to give the Lakers a 19-14 lead in the third set.
- Canton went on an 11-4 run to eke out a 25-23 win and take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
- The Laker defense held Canton to just seven kills over the final two sets to take the match.
- Farry led Oswego with 18 kills and Simplicio added 12.
- Senior McKenna Corbin tallied 41 assists and nine digs and sophomore Emily Zeisler served nine aces and got 10 digs.
- Senior Ally Natale (15), junior Kaylee Troy (14) and Simplicio (12) also reached double digits in digs.
Match 2 – St. Lawrence (17-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18)
- Against the Saints, the Lakers held a 10-6 lead in the opening set before the visitors made an 11-point run to make it 17-10.
- The teams played even down the stretch to help St. Lawrence to the 25-17 win to go up 1-0.
- In the second set, service runs by Zeisler and Corbin helped the Lakers pull out to a 20-10 lead and then win it 25-19.
- Senior Emma Fiorentine and junior Grace Taylor each had three kills in the third as Oswego went up by six early and won 25-18.
- It was all Lakers in the fourth as they raced out to a 17-5 lead and held off a Saints' comeback attempt for the 3-1 win.
- Simplicio led the offense with 10 kills and Fiorentine had eight.
- Farry and Taylor combined for 11 blocks to bolster the Laker defense at the net.
- Natale led the team in digs for the second straight match with 17.
- Corbin recorded a double-double on 26 assists and 11 digs.
