OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball team won their seventh game in a row this afternoon over the Potsdam Bears. This is the first time in seven years the Lakers have won seven games in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers found themselves down 6-2 in the first set after three attack errors by the home team.

After a kill by Georgia Farry, the Bears went on a three-point run to push their lead to 8-3.

Oswego then went to score five of the next six points, bringing the game within one point.

Potsdam then went on another run to bring their lead back to four points (12-8).

Oswego got within three of the Bears with the score sitting at 18-15, Potsdam went on to score seven of the next nine points to give them the 1-0 lead with a final first set score of 25-17.

In the second set the Lakers came out firing on all cylinders, getting up 5-1 with a service ace by Ally Natale and a kill by Cara Simplicio.

After a point from the Bears, Oswego didn't look back as they took the 12-3 advantage.

With a kill from Sydney Chiffriller, this initiated another run for the Lakers, pushing their lead to 11 points (17-6), ending with a huge block from Emma Fiorentine and Georgia Farry.

The Lakers came up huge, not allowing the Bears back in the game after multiple long rallies, taking the second set 25-11.

In the third set the game started with points going side to side as the score sat at 13-12 in favor of the Lakers.

Oswego the went on to score six of the next eight points to give their squad the 19-14 lead.

Potsdam then also took six of the next eight points, bringing the set to 21-20 in favor of the Lakers.

Farry with a kill brought the lead to two points and then Oswego took advantage of the miscues of the Bears offense with an attacking error to put the Lakers two points from winning the third set.

Potsdam then scored the next two points, to make it a one point game.

Farry once again with a kill brought it to set point.

Natale then took the sert into her own hands with a service ace, putting Oswego up two sets to one.

The final set was neck and neck as Potsdam battled to stay in the game and Oswego fought to end it in four sets.

The fourth set was tied 12 times throughout, Oswego then went on to score nine of the next 11 points to secure their seventh win in a row.

The run was initiated by Taylor and ended with a Potsdam attack error.

Taylor had three kills in the run and Chiffriller had two.

Oswego had 12 aces in the match to Potsdam's five.

Simplicio (14), Taylor (12) and Farry (9) led the Lakers in kills.

Simplicio (3), Madison Gordon (2) and Dias (2) led the Green and Gold in aces.

Dias (38) , Natale (4) and Emily Zeisler (4) led the home squad in assists.

Natale (21) Kaylee Troy (13) and Simplicio (13) led Oswego in digs.

Oswego will travel west to Rochester, N.Y. as they will take on the Nazareth College Golden Flyers for a non-conference matchup which will take place on Wednesday, September 28 for a 7:00PM start.
