KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball team held the Wolves of Keuka at bay despite their persistent comeback mentality, Oswego swept the Wolves in three straight sets and were led by Cara Simplicio in the kills category with 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oswego was down 3-1 early in the first set but came back with five straight points to earn their first lead of the contest.

From here the Lakers earned multiple back-to-back scores and found themselves up 16-12.

Keuka saw the opportunity at a comeback and took it, earning three points in a row to take the Lakers lead back to only one.

The Green and Gold kept battling and forced the Wolves into three straight attack errors, going up by five (20-15).

Keuka didn't go down easy as they made moves to get the set within three points twice before the Lakers ultimately took it 25-20.

In the second set the Lakers once again found themselves down early, 4-2.

Simplicio, finding her team down 5-3 took matters into her own hands, earning two straight points for the Lakers by a kill and service ace to tie the contest back up.

The back and forth continued as the Lakers and Wolves would not let either side take the jump.

With five lead changes and ten ties throughout the second set, Oswego had their hands full.

After four straight points by the Lakers to put them up 21-16, the Wolves once again would not go quietly.

Keuka found themselves down 24-17 after three more points by the Lakers to their one, with FIVE straight kills, the Wolves brought the game to within two points (24-22).

Oswego was able to end the momentum of the opposition with a kill from Sydney Chiffriller to put the Lakers up two sets to zero.

The third set the Lakers had settled in and went up 8-4.

The Wolves once again would not go without a fight as they scored five of the next six points, tying the third set at nines.

With another back and forth battle offensively, the Lakers and Wolves found themselves tied six times throughout what turned out to be the final set of the contest.

Oswego went on a five-point run in the final set to put the Wolves away, 25-18.

Simplicio (13), Chiffriller (8) and Georgia Farry (6) led the Lakers in kills in the contest.

Ally Natale and Kaylee Troy led the Green and Gold in digs with 14 for Natale and 10 for Troy.

Chiffriller led the Lakers in hitting percentage with a 60% kill percentage going 8-for10 on the attack.

McKenna Corbin continued her set assists tear with 33 in the contest this evening.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will look towards Penn State Behrend for their second tournament of the campaign, taking on Grove City College and host Penn State Behrend on Friday September 9 at 5:00PM and 7:00PM.
