CLINTON, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Soccer team lost a tough matchup vs the Continentals of Hamilton this evening, 2-0. Kyle Hanner and Kieran Gilroy each put up three shots on offense, while the defense maintained a stalemate most of the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers and the Continentals endured a gritty first half that had both teams exchanging many shots, six from Oswego and five from Hamilton.

Goalkeeper Matt D'Arpino saved the only shot on goal Hamilton had in the first half of play.

Gilroy led the Laker offense in the first 45 minutes, putting three shots up on the board but was unable to capitalize.

Strong goalie play by Hamilton squashed the two Laker shots on goal in the first off the feet of Gilroy and Brendan Murphy.

The second half was much of the same, as defense played a huge part all game long.

Hamilton out-shot Oswego twelve to six in the second half, which proved to be the difference maker.

At the 63:22 mark, the Continentals finally broke the stalemate to go up 1-0.

Just three minutes later at 66:47, Hamilton again found the back of the net on a fast break to go up 2-0.

Caleb Munski and Derek Rivera would put up two more shots on goal before the end of the contest, but couldn't find the back of the net.

The Lakers will look to turn it around this Sunday, September 11 where they travel to Ithaca to take on the Bombers in a 1:00 PM matchup.
