ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Basketball team defeated the 10-5 Oneonta Red Dragons this evening by a score of 76-68 led by Jeremiah Sparks with 31 total points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first five minutes of play the Lakers and Red Dragons went back and forth, the Lakers found themselves up 12-6 after a good three pointer by Sparks and a jumper by Ahkee Anderson.

Oswego used a 6-2 run to put them up by eight points with 12:23 remaining in the half.

Oenonta went on a 10-2 run to give them their first lead of the half with 7:36 remaining.

With eight lead changes in the final seven minutes the Lakers went into the second half down by one point (35-34).

From 15:34-14:55 the Lakers used a 5-0 run to put them up by five points (44-39).

Oneonta then immediately showed their resilience by going on a 8-0 run to take the two point lead with 12:03 remaining.

With the game intensifying, the Lakers took their experience in high pressure situations and went on a 6-0 run from 7:10-5:52 putting them up 61-55.

Oneonta was trying to squeeze themselves back into the contest until Cartier Bowman went on to score four straight points with less than three minutes remaining putting them up by eight points.
- With 52 seconds remaining, Oneonta knocked down a three-pointer bringing them within five points and that would be the ending of the Red Dragons scoring as the Lakers went on to score five straight points resulting in an eight point victory for the visiting nationally-ranked Lakers.
- Jamal Achille finished the contest with 14 points and six rebounds and Bowman finished the contest with 11 points, five rebounds and went 5-6 from the charity stripe.

The men will travel to New Paltz to face the Hawks on January 21, and look to continue their SUNYAC success.
