GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Basketball team took on the Knights of Geneseo for their final regular season matchup of the season. The Lakers showed fight in the second quarter trying to climb back into the contest, Geneseo would not let that happen as they took the decision 62-34.

Final Score: Oswego State 34 (11-8, SUNYAC 4-7), Geneseo 62 (12-5, SUNYAC 7-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Knights started off the game on a 10-2 run running through the fifth minute of the game.

After a Logana layup, Geneseo then went on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter up 19-5.

Giavanna White-Principio started off the second quarter with a good jumper.

Oswego came out swinging in the second quarter, scoring the first 12 of a total 16 scored in the first 4:34 of the quarter.

Ending the quarter, Oswego went on a 6-0 run to bring the Green and Gold within five points to end the first half (27-22).

Geneseo did not take the end of quarter by Oswego well as they came out and scored 12 straight points in 4:36 of the third quarter. This gave the Knights a cushioned 17-point lead.

Sydney Hoefs had two fastbreak layups in the third quarter to cut their deficit to 13 points.

Going into the final quarter, the Lakers trailed by 15 points (41-26).

In the final quarter, the Lakers were outscored by a margin of 22-8 resulting in a final score of 62-34.

Although a lopsided final score, the Lakers did outscore the Knights off the bench 20-15.

The real difference in the contest was Geneseo's ability to take advantage of second chance points with 16 to Oswego's six.

Geneseo also took advantage of the Lakers' mistakes on the offensive side of the ball, scoring 17 points off of turnovers.

The Lakers will come back to the shores of Lake Ontario to take on the Cardinals of Plattsburgh on January 27th at 5:30PM in Max Ziel Gymnasium.
