Oswego Handles Saints in Away Matchup By Score of 78-45

CANTON, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men's Basketball team defeated the Saints of St. Lawrence tonight. The Lakers spread the wealth in points, earning five players in double digits for points. Ahkee Anderson led the way for the Green and Gold with 13 points, six assists and three rebounds.

Final Score: Oswego State 78 (10-2, SUNYAC 4-1), St. Lawrence 45 (5-4, Liberty League 1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers began the contest with three different scorers contributing to a 7-0 run. 

  • Starting the run was Jeremiah Sparks with a three-pointer, followed by Jamal Achille with a good layup and the run was finished by two good free throws by Anderson. 

  • Sean Edwards hit a three-pointer at the 11:49 mark to put the Lakers up 15-4. 

  • By the 03:59 mark, the Saints cut their deficit to seven points with the scoreboard reading 24-17. 

  • Oswego went on another 7-0 run, putting them up by 14 points with 1:39 to go int the first half

  •  Anderson initiated the run with a good jumper and Edwards had a steal and a three-pointer in the run. 

  • Joey Rowback ended the first half with a good three-pointer to put the Lakers up by 16 points going into the second half. 

  • Oswego started the second half with a 10-4 run, putting them up by a score of 46-23 with 16:27 remaining. 

  • With six straight points for Cartier Bowman, the Lakers found themselves up big with a 23 point lead. 

  • At 12:03, Oswego's December Athlete of The Month Devin Green hit a three-pointer to give the Lakers their biggest lead of the game. Oswego led 60-30. 

  • The Last ten minutes went back and forth with scoring, the final score resulted in a 78-45 victory for the away squad. 

  • Oswego made the best of the Saints turnovers, earning 27 points to the Saints four directly off turnovers. 

  • The Lakers also had an advantage in the bench points, showing their depth, having 33 points off the bench compared to the Saints' 18. 

  • With their sound defense, the Lakers also showed a great fast-paced offense. 

  • Oswego earned 22 fast-break points and held the Saints to only five. 

WHAT'S NEXT

The men will return home to the shores of Lake Ontario to take on the Buffalo State Bengals on January 6th at 7:30PM in their first SUNYAC contest of the semester. The Lakers look to move their win streak to seven straight.
