OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Basketball fell to the Geneseo Knights in a game that saw Karleigh Leo lead the Lakers in scoring.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego State 52 (11-3, SUNYAC 4-3), Geneseo 73 (9-3, SUNYAC 4-1)
Location: Max Ziel Gymnasium, Oswego, NY
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The first quarter was a struggle for the Lakers, as they did not score until just under halfway through. By that time, the Knights had pulled out to a 15-point lead.
-
Shania Iglesias hit a jumper and Karleigh Leo nailed a three-pointer late in the quarter to bring the Lakers to double digits, keeping the deficit at 15.
-
Entering the second quarter down 25-10, the Lakers kept the game at around that deficit for the remainder of the final three quarters, but were never able to claw back into the game, despite playing competitively with Geneseo for much of the time.
-
The Knights were able to score 21 points off of turnovers, and shot the ball better from the field and from three point range.
-
A bright spot in the game was Karleigh Leo, who got back on track for the season with 11 points, going 3-6 from beyond the arc.
-
Giavanna White-Principio took advantage of her opportunities in the game and scored nine points, including the first points of the game.
-
Peyton Daeffler also had eight points in the game.
WHAT'S NEXT
The women will travel to Cortland to face the Red Dragons on Friday, January 13. The Lakers will look to defeat another SUNYAC rival and improve their record to 12-3.
