OSWEGO, NY – The Lakers continued Oswego Hockey Classic play against the Cortland Red Dragons in the consolation game of the home ice tournament. The Lakers fought hard to the end of regulation and overtime to pick up a 1-1 draw. The two teams would square off in an exhibition shootout to determine a winner in which the Lakers fell to the visiting Red Dragons after nine rounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It would not take long for Cortland to strike first, notching their first tally of the competition 2:01 into the first period.

The Lakers spent the majority of the rest of the period playing defense but would also find a way to add to the scoresheet with a goal by senior forward Tyler Flack, assisted by Shane Bull, at the 14:49 mark of the first.

Throughout the 2nd and 3rd period Oswego and Cortland took turns on the powerplay, but the scoreline would remain tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.

The back-and-forth type of regulation play persisted through the overtime period, but still neither team could breakthrough resulting in a 1-1 final score before the teams would participate in an exhibition shooutout the conclude the tournament.

Stephen Krykostas would open the lengthy shootout for Cortland with a goal, but Connor Gatto would respond with a goal of his own for Oswego.

The Red Dragons and Lakers would go one-for-one in the shootout for nine rounds.

Cortland goaltender Ronan Mobley closed out the shootout win over the Lakers by blocking Daniel Colabufo's shootout attempt.
