OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Men's Hockey team looked to keep their winning streak going after defeating #1 Plattsburgh last weekend, but instead fell short against an up-and-coming Cortland State side by a score of 5-2.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Oswego 2 (7-5-0, 6-2-0 SUNYAC), Cortland (8-2-0, 6-2-0 SUNYAC)
Location: Deborah F. Stanley Arena, Oswego, NY
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers fell behind 6:13 into the first period as Nate Berke opened up the scoring for the visiting Red Dragons.
- Another Cortland goal, just three and a half minutes later saw the lead opened up to 2-0 for the visitors and an early deficit for the Lakers.
- Oswego was able to find an answer in the final few minutes of the first period as Tyler Flack was able to find the back of the net to pull the Lakers back to within one.
- Another goal, 1 minutes and 22 second later by Colby Seitz, re-established Cortland's two goal lead and an eventful 1st period would end with the Red Dragons leading 3-1.
- Cortland's Stephen Kyrkostas added two more goals within the first seven minutes of the 2nd period to put the Lakers down 5-1.
- Brandon Millberg entered the goal in relief for the Lakers after Cortland's fifth goal and he would stifle the Red Dragon's offense for the remainder of the game.
- Tyler Flack would add his 2nd goal of the evening and team leading 9th of the season in the 3rd period but it would not be enough as the Lakers drop the SUNYAC matchup, 5-2.
- The Lakers outshot the visitors by a tally of 43-24 but were stifled by Jack Riedell's 41 save performance.
WHAT'S NEXT
